I'm starting my 22nd year as a teacher, my 14th at Saint Rose. Previously, I was a founder of the Blackman High School band program and taught Jazz Band, Rock Band, woodwind lessons and wrote music for their halftime shows.
I've always played music professionally and continue to play today. I've performed with various artists such as Boots Randolph, Jerrod Niemann, Jimmy Fortune(Statler Bros), Ben Jones, Frankie Ford, The Ink Spots, The Drifters, Maurice & the Zodiacs, and many more. I like to bring my performing experience into the classroom and use those techniques to give students a varied musical experience.
I graduated in 1994 from Western Carolina University with a degree in saxophone and a son. Jacob is now 27 and working as a musician here in middle Tennessee.
Besides teaching at Saint Rose I travel to other schools to teach classes and lessons. I'm the music committee chairman for the Main St. Jazz Fest, which our own Saint Rose Jazz Band plays for every year.
Being a performer/educator isn't just a job for me...it's a lifestyle.
