8th Grade Athlete Recognition
We have a tradition of recognizing 8th grade athletes two ways for their participation in Saint Rose sponsored sports.
8th Grade Banners in the Gym
Each new school year, we offer 8th graders who plan to participate in one of the Saint Rose sponsored sports the opportunity to have a banner displayed in the gym. The banner has their name and either one or two athletic photos from their eighth grade year. At the end of their eighth grade year, we give the banner to the athlete.
Banner Details
We work with Tri-Star Photography to produce these 2 x 3 banners. They typically use their individual sport photo for their 8th grade sport. If you choose a fall sport, we have a photo on file. For individuals who plan to play a winter (basketball) or spring sport (soccer, baseball, tennis or golf) we will schedule a specific time to take their photos in November. See examples below.
Banner Ordering
Banners cost $40 and can be paid by check or FACTS. One can begin to order a banner starting now until October 31. Once we receive your order, we will schedule a day in early November for Tri-Star to come to Saint Rose to take photos of your child in their winter or spring sport uniforms. For athletes from the Fall sports, we will use photos that were taken during their normal individual/team photo shoot. Our goal is to have their banners hanging in the gym by early December and will take them down at the end of the school year. If your child decides later on to play a spring sport, we can request a single order request. Below is the link to the form for ordering an 8th grade banner.
Blanket Ceremony for 8th Graders
Saint Rose offers each graduating eighth grade student a blanket commemorating their participation in competitive activities during their 5th through 8th grade years. Blankets are presented to the students around the end of their school year in May. Non-Saint Rose students are welcome to submit a blanket request for Saint Rose sports they played. Look for a communication in mid-April to order.
Blanket Details
The blanket will have the Saint Rose Star logo, the student's name, and each Saint Rose sponsored activity they participated in embroidered in one corner. It is a stadium style blanket with a softer underside and comes in dark blue.
Blanket Ordering Details
Below is the link to the order form. When submitting your information, please make sure your child’s name is spelled correctly and you have provided each Saint Rose sponsored activity your child participated in during any of the specified years.
Sponsored Activities include: Sports, Band, Science Olympiad, Forensics and Math Club. The Saint Rose or Diocesan sponsored sports that qualify are: Cross Country, Football, Flag Football, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, and Golf. To include any activity on the blanket, the 8th grader must have participated in the activity at least once during one’s 5th through 8th grade years.
Payment can be made through FACTS or check. If you wish to purchase a blanket for your son or daughter, please place your order using the order form link below. The deadline to purchase an athletic blanket is April 26. The blankets usually take around three weeks for completion and delivery.
