Art Curriculum

My teaching philosophy is very student-centered. I believe that students are capable of doing great work at any age, and my job is to inspire and empower them to think and work like artists. In my classroom, I am the facilitator and guide, giving students opportunities to create and solve artistic problems and get out of their comfort zone.

The mission of Art at Saint Rose is to encourage kids to develop life skills through the arts. Art may seem like fun and games- and while it can be- it is also teaching students important life skills, such as: communication, collaboration, fine motor skills, and social/emotional learning.

We believe art class is important to the whole child; it is hands-on, has immediate rewards, focuses on positive achievements, inspires experimentation and analysis, fosters collaboration, and encourages talents. The arts provide many opportunities to show off and demonstrate students' skills through authentic performance. The arts enable children to grow in confidence and learn how to think positively about themselves and learning.
