Two Year Old Program
A developmentally appropriate curriculum is planned using the Diocese of Nashville Curriculum in conjunction with units and themes for two-year-old students that allow them adequate time daily to interact among themselves in small group settings while learning colors, shapes, and numbers.
As toddlers’ transition to preschool age, they learn more by doing, and they need many opportunities to explore, grow, and make meaningful choices. Our activities foster creativity and promote emotional, cognitive, social, language, and physical development. As children explore, teachers promote critical thinking by asking questions during discovery and strive to foster curiosity and experimentation during play-based learning opportunities.
Students gather together daily for stories, circle time and group activities. At the beginning of the school year, these gatherings are limited to a short period of time and are gradually lengthened by the teachers as the year progresses. This process develops the expansion of their attention span and prepares students to progress to the three-year-old program.
Religion is incorporated daily through colorful hands-on activities. We use His Little Way by Maryvale Press which is a comprehensive curriculum designed to introduce young children to the basics of the Catholic faith through activities, crafts, songs, and lessons tied to the liturgical year and Saints.
