School Counselor

We are pleased to have a professional counselor from Catholic Social Services available for our students at Saint Rose School. A counselor will be at school from 8:30am. to 3:00pm. three days a week. These days will be announced at the beginning of the school year.

Counseling services may include family and group counseling, classroom presentations, and/or individual counseling. The parents, teacher, or Principal may refer a student for counseling. Students may have one session with the counselor without written permission. To continue sessions, a “referral form” must be completed and given to the counselor by the individual making the referral. The counselor must obtain written permission from the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) prior to providing ongoing counseling services. Every effort is made to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of the counseling sessions.

It is important that this service be a team approach: that is, the counselor, parents, and teachers working together for the benefit of the child. Psychologists who are not contracted through the school may not assess or work with a student in the school building without consent of the principal and the appropriate screening.

Meet Cosmo! Cosmo is new to the Saint Rose's Counseling Department as of 2024. Cosmo, a Border Collie, born in February of 2024, is under training of Brad Okeson of Dog Training Elite to be Saint Rose's very own therapy dog. His name was chosen by our student Saint Rose Stars in a contest held when he was two months old and he is our "Star" pup. Cosmo's gifts to Saint Rose include bringing joy and laughter - even if for a short time - to our students, lowering their stress level, and providing soft fur and comforting affection. Cosmo loves our students, faculty, and staff and greets them with tail wags and snuggles.
